From January 17th until 19th, 2019, a delegation of the World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO), led by the President, Theo De Jager, will join the Global Forum on Food and Agriculture (GFFA) in Berlin. This year’s theme will be “Agriculture Goes Digital – Smart Solutions for Future Farming”.
The GFFA is the world’s leading international conference on key issues regarding the future of the global agri-food industry. The meeting has taken place in the framework of the International Green Week (IGW) in Berlin on an annual basis since 2009. Over 2,000 international visitors from the industry, science, civil society and politics attend the numerous public events of GFFA each year. The political highlight is the Agriculture Ministers’ Conference attended by around 70 Ministers of agriculture from all over the world.
WFO will be actively engaged in several panels to bring farmers' voice and expertise into the discussion, as well as on Thursday, January 17th, it will host the event "Digital solutions for farming today – how does technological innovation match with young farmers´ needs?". Furthermore, a delegation of young farmers has been invited by the German Ministry of Food and Agriculture to attend the Conference, so addressing the rural youth perspective into the discussion.
