During the plenary session of the CFS 44 at FAO headquarters in Rome, Ms. Jennica Hopkins from US gave her statement endorsing the revised version of the Global Strategic Framework as the first periodic updated carried out by the Committee on World Food Security.

"We present our compliments to the CFS Chair, Secretariat and the Member States for the excellent work dispensed so far in the different items treated and particularly on the annual update of the Global Strategic Framework for Food Security and Nutrition.

I am Jennica Hopkins, afarmer from USA.

Farmers support the endorsement of the revised version of the Global Strategic Framework as the first periodic updated carried out by the Committee in accordance with the 2013 plenary decision and the guidance included in the CFS Multi-Year Program of Work MYPoW for 2016-2017.

Farmers acknowledge the relevance of this global framework in the path toward food and nutrition security and recognize its comprehensive and holistic approach that considers issues such as climate change, poverty, demographic issues, education, women’s empowerment, inadequate governance structures among others as structural causes of hunger and malnutrition.

The global farmers’ community renews its engagement in all the outreach activities to disseminate the Global Framework at local, national, regional and global level as a tool to coordinate actions and policies to finally achieve a world free from hunger where the right to adequate food is ensured for everyone.

Besides the outreach, we as a coalition of International, regional and sub regional farmers’ organizations from all over the world together with our members, are also well-placed to get into dialogue with policy makers on all levels and hold governments accountable to follow the path outlined in the Global Framework.

We thank the Open-ended Working Group on GSF and its Chair for all the efforts made this year and we welcome the work that will be done in the future to update and disseminate the GSF.

Farmers are ready to work with all the CFS stakeholders on this important task".
