Championing Farmers’ Role in the SDGs

The High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) was established in 2012 following the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20). It serves as the UN’s central platform for reviewing and monitoring the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The HLPF convenes annually under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

WFO actively engages in the HLPF, ensuring that the voice of farmers is heard in global sustainable development dialogues. Through the Farmers’ Major Group, WFO brings forward farmers’ lived experiences and practical solutions, contributing meaningfully to international policy processes.

Each year, WFO supports the participation of farmers’ representatives and plays a key role in shaping the discussion from the ground up, highlighting the essential role of farmers in achieving the SDGs.
