17th Petersberg Climate Dialogue
The German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety will host the 17th Petersberg Climate Dialogue on 21–22 April in Berlin, Germany.
Launched in 2010 by former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the Petersberg Climate Dialogue is an annual high-level forum that brings together selected states to build political consensus and lay the groundwork for successful multilateral climate negotiations. This year’s edition will gather representatives from around 40 countries to identify opportunities for international cooperation and accelerate the shift towards climate-neutral economies, in preparation for UNFCCC COP 31, which will convene from 9–20 November in Antalya, Türkiye.
The World Farmers’ Organisation, as the coordinating organisation of the UNFCCC Farmers’ Constituency, will participate in the event, bringing the farmers’ perspective to key discussions on closing the mitigation gap towards 1.5°C, mobilising climate finance and advancing NCQG implementation for adaptation, and strengthening the multilateral climate negotiations as a driver of accelerated implementation.
