WFO at the 2025 Forum of the UNFCCC Standing Committee on Finance

2025 Forum of the UNFCCC Standing Committee on Finance

The 2025 Forum of the UNFCCC Standing Committee on Finance will take place at the FAO Headquarters in Rome, Italy, on 8-9 September 2025. This high-level gathering is a key moment in the global debate on climate finance.

The SCF Forum provides a platform for a wide range of stakeholders, including governments, climate funds, financial institutions, civil society, think tanks, and the private sector, to facilitate the exchange of information and promote linkages and coherence in the mobilisation and delivery of climate finance.

This year’s Forum will convene under the theme “Accelerating climate action and resilience through financing for sustainable food systems and agriculture.”

The World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO) will play a key role in representing the UNFCCC Farmers’ Constituency, ensuring that the perspectives of farmers are fully considered and integrated into discussions on climate finance. For farmers worldwide, access to climate finance is critical: it determines their ability to recover from shocks, adapt to climate change, build resilience across agri-food systems, and contribute to a 1.5 food-secure future for all.

The WFO delegation will include Tamar Toria of the Georgia Farmers’ Association (GFA), who serves as Facilitator of the WFO Working Group on Climate Change; Tobias Gräs from the Danish Agriculture & Food Council (DAFC), also actively engaged in the Working Group; Juha Ruippo of the Central Union of Agricultural Producers and Forest Owners (MTK Finland); and Diane Sibanda from the Botswana Farmers Association (BOFA).

Also joining are Andrea Porro, WFO Secretary General, Luisa Volpe, Advocacy, Policy and Partnerships Lead, and Francesco Brusaporco, Senior Policy Officer and co-focal point of the Farmers’ Constituency, from the WFO International Secretariat.

They will actively contribute to the debate, highlighting both the diversity and complexity of the agricultural sector, and stressing the essential role of farmers’ organisations and agricultural cooperatives in scaling up individual initiatives and ensuring that finance effectively reaches farmers on the ground.
