The World Farmers' Organisation will join the seventeenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17) in Armenia

2026 UN Biodiversity Conference (CBD COP 17)

The seventeenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17) will take place from 19 to 30 October 2026 in Yerevan, Armenia.

The Conference will be held alongside the twelfth meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety and the sixth meeting of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing. COP17 will mark the first global review of collective progress towards implementing the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, adopted in 2022.

Agriculture is closely connected to the objectives of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, with many of its targets directly related to food systems. The participation of farmers and their organisations is therefore important to ensure that biodiversity policies reflect the realities of agricultural production and can be implemented effectively on the ground.

WFO’s work in this area is guided by its Policy on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biodiversity and Natural Resources, adopted by the WFO General Assembly in 2024.
