2026 UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF)
The 2026 UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) will be held at UN Headquarters in New York from 7 to 15 July 2026, under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
The HLPF is the UN’s main platform on sustainable development, playing a central role in the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals. All UN Member States and civil society organisations participate in the Forum.
The World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO) will participate as the Farmers’ Major Group representative, with WFO Board Member Rob Larew, President of the National Farmers Union (NFU), representing the organisation at the Forum.
With less than four years until the 2030 deadline, the 2026 edition convenes under the theme “Transformative, equitable, innovative and coordinated actions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its SDGs for a sustainable future for all.” It will conduct an in-depth review of SDG 6 (clean water and sanitation), SDG 7 (affordable and clean energy), SDG 9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure), SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities), and SDG 17 (partnerships for the goals) — goals with direct implications for rural communities and farming systems worldwide.
