Eighth session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2025)
The eighth session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2025), organised and convened by the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and hosted by the Government of Switzerland, will take place from 2 to 6 June in Geneva, Switzerland.
Held under the overarching theme “Every Day Counts, Act for Resilience Today”, this year’s session marks a significant milestone following the High-Level Meeting on the Midterm Review of the Sendai Framework (May 2023), as we enter the final five years of the Sendai Framework. The event is expected to assess and discuss progress in implementing the recommendations put forward through the Political Declaration adopted by the UN General Assembly in May 2023, and to give practical guidance to accelerate its further implementation.
GP2025 will also be an opportunity for different stakeholders to share new knowledge, exchange best practices and discuss the latest developments and trends in reducing disaster risk.
The World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO) will participate with a dedicated delegation composed of Gunsham Seeborun, WFO Board Member for the African Constituency, Meena Pokhrel from the WFO Member Nepal Agricultural Cooperative Central Federation Ltd. (NACCFL) and Francesca Mancarella, WFO Policy Officer.
The WFO’s representatives will advocate for farmers’ priorities and ensure that the farmers’ needs and perspectives are loudly heard in the main discussions on disaster risk reduction and resilience-building.
