High-Level Preparatory Meeting for the 2026 UN Water Conference

The High-Level Preparatory Meeting for the 2026 UN Water Conference will take place on 26-27 January 2026, in Dakar, Senegal. Organised by the Government of Senegal and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in collaboration with the United Nations, the meeting represents a key step in the implementation of the roadmap leading to the 2026 UN Water Conference, to be held on 2-4 December 2026 in the UAE. It aims to contribute to effective preparations for the conference, review progress and delays in achieving SDG6, and explore ways to accelerate the achievement of water-related goals.

The high-level gathering will bring together Heads of State, government representatives, experts, civil society, and the private sector to strengthen international cooperation on water.

Representing the World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO), Betty Chinyamunyamu, CEO of WFO Member National Smallholder Farmers’ Association of Malawi (NASFAM), will be on the ground to ensure that the farmers’ perspective and needs are included in the key international water-related dialogues.
