UN Food Systems Summit +4 Stocktake (UNFSS+4)

UN Food Systems Summit +4 Stocktake (UNFSS+4)

The UN Food Systems Summit +4 Stocktake (UNFSS+4) will take place from 27 to 29 July 2025, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, co-hosted by the Federal Government of Ethiopia and the Government of Italy.

As a key milestone in the Decade of Action, the Summit will review progress made since the 2021 Food Systems Summit, build on the momentum of the first Stocktake in 2023 (UNFSS+2), and serve as a platform to strengthen collaboration and unlock finance for more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient food systems.

Ahead of the official programme, an Action Day on 27 July will bring together key stakeholders for focused engagements and field visits showcasing local food systems initiatives.

Summit sessions will focus on key thematic enablers and challenges, covering topics such as investments, resilience building, harnessing the potential of school meals, climate action, public finance, and scientific innovation. A particular emphasis will be placed on addressing financing challenges to accelerate national food systems transitions and advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO) will participate with a dedicated delegation, including Secretary General Andrea Porro, who also serves as Food Producers Representative in the Stakeholder Engagement and Networking Advisory (SENA) Group, Luisa Volpe, Advocacy, Policy and Partnerships Practice Leader, Daniel Mwendah M’Mailutha, CEO of the Kenya National Farmers’ Federation (KENAFF), and Peer Ederer, a member of the WFO Scientific Council, will also join the delegation.

WFO will take an active part in the conference discussions, advocating for the key role of farmers and a partnership-based approach across the food value chain as a lever for transitioning food systems towards greater sustainability. In this perspective, the full involvement of all value chain actors — including farmers and food companies — in key political processes, such as the UNFSS, should remain a global priority.

Among its contributions, WFO will participate in the following official sessions:
