On June 24th and 25th, Tunis hosted the international conference “Engineering and Food Security in Africa”, jointly organized by the Ordre des Ingénieurs de Tunisie (OIT) and the Fédération Mondiale des Ordres des Ingénieurs (FMOI).
The two-day programme featured plenary sessions and technical workshops with speakers and participants examining how engineering contributes to the development of agriculture in Africa and which is the role of technologies in achieving food security.
In his role of President of the World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO), Theo de Jager addressed the opening ceremony of the conference. During his speech, the WFO President called audience’s attention to what African farmers expect from engineers to achieve food and water security in Africa by 2030.
