100 Days to UNFCCC SB62: Farmers Get Ready for First SJWA Workshop
With 100 days until the Bonn Climate Change Conference 2025 (SB62), taking place from 16 to 26 June, the World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO) is actively working to ensure that farmers’ voices and priorities are meaningfully represented. The UNFCCC Farmers’ Constituency, a broad and diverse network of over 70 global, regional and national farmer organisations and agricultural NGOs coordinated by the WFO, recently submitted their joint views on the subject and format of the first Sharm el-Sheikh Joint Work on Implementation of Climate Action on Agriculture and Food Security (SJWA) workshop.
The first SJWA workshop in Bonn is a key opportunity to integrate farm-level efforts into a broader climate framework, ensuring a fair and transparent distribution of responsibilities across the agri-food value chain.
The Farmers’ Constituency calls for a practical, achievable, and quantifiable approach that recognises the diversity of farming systems and local contexts. Climate action in agriculture must be farmer-led, locally driven, and avoid a one-size-fits-all approach. Ensuring farmers’ active participation in decision-making is essential to developing effective and inclusive climate policies.
