Kenyan Government Welcomes 2026 WFO Annual Meeting in Nairobi
WFO and KENAFF meet the Kenyan Government, which welcomes the 2026 WFO Annual Meeting in Nairobi, 8–11 June 2026.
Senior representatives of the World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO) and the Kenya National Farmers’ Federation (KENAFF) met Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Sen. Mutahi Kagwe, as part of joint preparations for the 2026 WFO Annual Meeting in Nairobi.
Scheduled for 8–11 June 2026, the 2026 WFO Annual Meeting is expected to bring together over 500 participants, including leaders of farmers’ organisations from across the world, as well as policymakers, financial institutions, and private sector representatives.
During the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Kagwe welcomed Kenya’s role in hosting the 2026 WFO Annual Meeting and described the event as an opportunity to highlight farmers’ contributions to food security and economic growth. He emphasised that agriculture must be recognised as a commercially viable, innovation-driven sector capable of generating sustainable incomes and attracting young people into the profession.
“The farmer remains the most important person in the food chain,” he said, calling for policy decisions that place producers at the centre.

Under the theme “Future Fields: Investing in Farmers’ Organisations and Empowering Communities for Sustainable Agriculture,” the 2026 WFO Annual Meeting will serve as a farmer-led global platform where policy priorities are shaped directly by farmers’ realities and collective experience.
WFO Secretary General Andrea Porro underlined that ensuring access to finance remains one of the most pressing challenges facing farmers worldwide. He noted that sustainability objectives cannot be achieved if farmers are unable to secure viable incomes and stressed the urgency of addressing generational renewal across agricultural systems.
Preparations for the 2026 WFO Annual Meeting are continuing through close coordination between WFO and KENAFF, with the support of Kenyan authorities, as Nairobi prepares to host the global farming community in June 2026.
