2030 Agenda

From 25th to 27th September 2015, world leaders gathered in New York for the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit, a major event combining the presentation of Agenda 2030 and the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This event was a great recognition of the intense work that the international community and relevant stakeholders, including the WFO, have been doing in the years since Rio+20, in 2012.
As one of the reference Organizations (Organizing Partner) of the Farmers Major Group, the WFO has been very much involved in the overall negotiation process for the SDGs, including representing the voice of farmers in the six interactive dialogues organised in 2015, in consultation with the United Nations Member States. Indeed, it is also thanks to WFO advocacy work, that an entire goal (SDG 2) is dedicated to food security and agriculture.
Since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs, throughout the past years, WFO has been greatly involved in its implementation, including being in the edge of the Decade of Action of the 2030 Agenda that was adopted at the 2019 United Nations General Assembly and has started in 2020. The Decade of Action will lead the implementation of the 2030 Agenda during the period 2020-2030.
